Q11. (a) Explain the principle of operation of an insulation resistance test, stating why the test is carried out on a regular basis. (6)

(b) Describe how EACH of the following electrical tests is carried out:

2021/MAR >> Part (a) for six marks more of an explanation should be provided. Part (b) a lot of candidates wrongly repeated the answer given in part (a)

2018/JUL >> Part (a) Was reasonably well answered but could have had more detail considering there were six marks available.

Part (b) Most candidates described how insulation resistance is tested, as in part (a) and did not understand that the question was asking how is actual resistance tested.

Part (c) A good number of many candidates did not know how to test for continuity and some again mentioning leakage to earth.
