Question

Q1. A mass of 0.8 kg of argon at a pressure and temperature of 20 bar and 127°C, expands in an isothermally process to a pressure of 2 bar.

It is then compressed to the original pressure according to the law PVn = constant with a final temperature of 668 K.

Calculate EACH of the following:

(a) the specific gas constant; (3)

(b) the polytropic index of compression; (4)

(c) the network transfer; (5)

(d) the net heat transfer. (4)

Note: for Argon γ = 1.67, Cp = 520.3 J/kgK.
