Q2. An “I” section beam as shown in Fig Q4 is simply supported at both ends. It carries a uniformly distributed load of 6 kN/m along its entire length and has a concentrated load of 18 kN at mid-span. The safety coefficient (factor of safety) of the beam is limited to 4.

Determine the maximum permissible length of the beam.

Note: UTS of Beam Material = 120 MN/m2
